The Multiplayer mode allows up to 4 players to play through LAN. Of course, in Free Play mode, you can mix both of those in any way you want, letting you create your own unique and exciting story.įor the first time in the acclaimed Port Royale series, you are not alone in the beautiful and seemingly so peaceful seas of the Caribbean. To be the most powerful Trader of the New World, you have to create trade routes, build industries and develop the economy of the colonies. The way of the Trader is, on the opposite, mostly about developing your riches and your economic power. And of course, trade will have a less important role to play in your rise. If you chose the way of the Adventurer, lead an unforgiving campaign for the conquest of the seas: invasion, piracy, bounty hunting, raiding do whatever it takes to build your own empire in the Caribbean. To achieve that goal, you may choose one of the two available campaigns: will you become an Adventurer or a Trader? And there you are, a young sea captain whose only goal is to become the most powerful man in the New World. The mighty kingdoms of Spain, England, France and the Netherlands fight over the colonies. So if you really want to get PR3, you should get the master harbor DLC to soften the tide. The Caribbean, in the turbulent 17th Century. And ships building is what you have to do, since your rank is tied to your cargo holds and you won't be able to build all until you reach a certain rank. Usually you have to have a lot of luck to find a ship of the line, but with the DLC you can built them yourself anytime (and all other ships) you want them and upgrade any backwater village to a mayor city. The Harbor Master DLC helps a bit to the point that it's too convenient. Yes, you won't get world statistics even of your own owned ports, and the local statistics are lacking information. You can only visit a harbor when you have a ship in there or built something on the port and you won't get any world information on general demands, just one immersion breaking icon showing you the most wanted item. Don't get me wrong, it would have been a really good game 1999, but the UI/Controls take out a lot of fun out of the game.įor example setting up a traderoute is done rather fast, but checking upon it's success or changing takes a lot more work since you don't really see what's wrong with it - just that you didn't get profit for that round. Sadly I bought PR3 and the DLC on a discount rush (5 bucks for all) before I checked the reviews.
